The Citroën DS5 Hybrid unveiled in Shanghai

The Citroen DS5 Hybrid4

Citroën is pursuing its re-conquering of high end vehicles and unveiled, today, at the Shanghai Car Show, its new DS5. This is the first model from Citroën to use the HYbrid4 technology.

The aesthetic details of the Citroen DS5 will certainly make ink flow, but it is certainly surprising and has a unique identity. Personally, I don’t really like it.

The aspect that stands out for me is rather its HYbrid4 engine, which has already been used on the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4. I imagine that these 2 vehicles share a common base, given that the DS5 will also be produced in Sochaux (a first for Citroën).

With the full HYbrid4 diesel engine, the Citroën will have 200 horsepower with 4 wheel drive, with a C02 emission level at 99 g/km, which is rather great.
This new, high end Citroën will be sold in France at the end of 2011. It’s unveiling in Shanghai was not a coincidence: the manufacturer Chevron has also set its sights on the new, hotly contested growth territory that is China.
